Just Magnolia Special Monthly Challenge

This month our special challenge on Just Magnolia is to create/alter an Easter basket/container.  Lena Katrine has done the most amazing tutorial for us making a basket from paper weaving.  Now to be honest when I first saw the tutorial I thought – this is definitely not for me, I could never do anything like that.  WRONG!!  The tutorial is so well written and easy to understand even a simpleton like me could understand it.

So, here’s my effort.  I’m so pleased with how it turned out, although I think I should have used a paler colour paper for the basket.magnolia-paper-weaving-bask

The paper is K & Co that I have had for a while, the sweet little Magnolia image is from the Winter stamp kit.

The image has been coloured with Inkadinks and Twinkling H2O’s.  The roses are, as always, from Wild Orchid Crafts.

Filled with some yummy choccie eggs.  This basket is for our Amy, and I think I will be refilling the eggs quite a few times before Easter lol.

Please pop across to Just Magnolia and take a peek at the fabulous creations the rest of the DT have made.

Just Magnolia Challenge - Hearts and Flowers

This week we are being sponsored by Wild Orchid Crafts so naturally the challenge had to incorporate flowers.  As it's so close to Valentines Day we went for hearts and flowers .

I did another easel card and went with the flower overload - flower papers, flower embellies and even flowers in the image lol.

The sweet sentiment is perfect for the intended recipient of this card, she’s an angel indeed.

The flowers have been spritzed with the usual Glimmer Mist (can’t do without the stuff).

The image has been coloured with Copics.  I have at last found a cardstock that I love and works for me – Stampin Up Whisper White.  I have tried every kind recommended and tried this last week after a tip off from Jacqui – LOVE IT!!  I can blend so much better on this card and the colours seem so much softer and not as garish as with other cardstock I have tried.

Just Magnolia – sketch time

It’s a sketch for the Just Magnolia challenge this week, JayJay has provided a brilliant sketch for us to work with.

JayJay sketch week 39

I have made another easel card (I am fast becoming quite addicted to them) and have once again unearthed some really old paper (another pad that is almost finished – sob!)  In fact it’s so old that I can’t remember where I got it from or who it is by – the cover got lost over the years.

Special Monthly Challenge – Paper Pleating

It’s our Special Monthly Challenge time again on Just Magnolia and this month Mina has done a wonderful tutorial for us on Paper Pleating.

I have used one of the soon to be released Wedding images – isn’t little Tilda just so cute as a flower girl (well that’s what I think she is lol).  I am still loving this old Karen Neuberger paper that I rediscovered a week or so ago (pity this is about the last of it).  And it goes without saying the yummilicious roses and asters are from Wild Orchid Crafts, blinged up with a spritz of Glimmer Mist (love this stuff – not that you’d notice lol)

I am struggling with trying to get decent photo’s – I ended up taking the card and camera to work with me in the hopes I would catch a ray of sunshine to get a half decent photo.  We got the sunshine and I was in a meeting, that’s just the story of my life lol.

I coloured the pins with a Copic marker and was thrilled when I got an almost perfect match to the pearls.

I hope you will give the paper pleating a whirl, I really enjoyed doing this technique and will certainly be using it a lot more.

A pink and green Magnolia card again

Oh dear, I’m really into my pink phase again.  I did this card on the weekend and forgot all about posting it.  The sweet little Tilda is from the Magnolia winter kit.

I just adore this Carol Wilson paper, the matching one is a harlequin design which I have used on the inside of the card.  Took me ages to decide which to put on the front and which to put inside lol.  The gorgeous roses have been spritzed with Snow Angel Glimmer Mist.  Tilda has been coloured with Copics (then I decided I didn’t like the pink so applied some Twinkling H2O’s over the top) – ah that’s much better now.  I can’t help myself, I just have to fiddle lol.

Create4Fun Challenge

It’s my turn to provide the sketch for Create4Fun Challenge blog this week.  Another simple one I’m afraid – at the mo I can’t be doing with fussy sketches although now that I have almost caught up with my behind the scenes DT work I can get back into lots of layers again.

And it’s another Magnolia card from me today – I’m just loving their new Tildas, this one is from the new Wedding collection that I picked up at the NEC last November.  I don’t think they are available to buy in the shops yet but should hopefully be out soon.

I’m back in my pink phase again lol – these papers were still on my desk from last week when I was working on some other DT work so I’m afraid you will be seeing a lot of similar cards soon once I can upload those cards on my blog (mid January I think).

The BEEEEAUTIFUL gardenias and roses have been spritzed them with pearl and snow angel Glimmer Mists – loving the bling lol.  The floral paper is Melissa Francis.  I don’t know who the dotty paper is by, there was no name on it and it’s another I have had for ages – typical hey.  The little fern leaf punch is a Woodware one.

The sentiment is from a Hot off the Press kit from QVC a long time ago.

Not just for Christmas (I think)

I think I can get away with using this Magnolia stamp all year round - well Christmas has been and gone (I must have blinked!!) and holly is evergreen so I guess I can use this stamp not only for Christmas.

magnolia-vintage-roses2
I have used some beautiful Melissa Frances papers which I have distressed with a bit of sandpaper and a distressing tool.  I have coloured the image with distress inks and Twinkling H2O's and added Stickles and Liquid Pearls so lots of shimmer  (talking of distress inks - have you seen the NEW colours that are coming out soon - OMW I so need these!!  The sage is so yummy, so are the two new pinks mmmmm I am drooling here lol).

magnolia-vintage-roses3
A bit of stitching and lots of roses from spritzed with Hydrangea Glimmer Mist and job done.

magnolia-vintage-roses1
Now I must head back to the grindstone - I have been beavering away on samples using new stamps for the CHA, got two more to do then I can parcel the cards up and get them in the mail.  Then I have another two lots of samples to make for yet another two new releases.  Best get me skates on lol.
