Just Magnolia Challenge - Masking

Our challenge this week at Just Magnolia is  Masking.  I love using this technique, and the rest of the DT has come up with some fantastic cards!

I have used images from the new Magnolia Christmas release, they are just so adorable.  The papers are also Magnolia (love them).magnolia-jm-masking

The roses are from Wild Orchid Crafts which I have blinged with some Cosmic Shimmer Lava Red.  magnolia-jm-masking1

Just Magnolia challenge - a sketch

I am loving the new Christmas Magnolia's - they are the best yet (I know, I say it with each release lol).  This week our challenge is to follow this fab sketch by Mina.Mina sketch wk 31
jm-xmas-2009-1
The snowflakes are made up of layers of die cut and punched snowflakes, some acetate coated with Twinklets, some parchment which I have edged with a silver Krylon pen then added some Stickles.  I think we are soon going to have a worldwide shortage to this stuff after seeing Kim's gorgeous work at the NEC!!jm-xmas-2009-2

Love the icicle border punch too!!jm-xmas-2009-3

A spoonful of sugar for sweet Magnolia

It's ages and ages since I managed to enter in ASOS challenges, and really loved this weeks sketch AND had to use some of my new Magnolia stamps that I got yesterday (well a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do lol).magnolia-xmas-09-1

I'm still on the aquas and blues colour scheme (just love this for Christmas cards) and these Heidi Grace papers are just so delish.  I also was so taken with Kim's cards yesterday, what this lady does with Stardust Stickles and Glimmer Mists is nobodies business!!  So, I had to Stickle and Glimmer Mist everything in site lol.  The snowflake circle has been Stickled, as has the acetate snowflake (after it was Twinkleted), as was the wee hydrangea flowers as was the scroll in the bottom corner.  I'm so going to need another bottle soon rofl.  Apologies for the over bright photos, I had to use the light box (hate using it!!)magnolia-xmas09-2

Just Magnolia Special Monthly Challenge - Distressing

This month we were thrilled to have Chris Dark from Sketching Stamper to do a tutorial for our special monthly challenge.  jm-magnolia-distressed

I went in your face bright with this card - need your shades here girls.  I have been wanting to use this DP for ages and never felt brave enough.  I have also used my favourite Magnolia image (for now till I get to the NEC tomorrow then she may be neglected for a while lol).  I just adore this stamp.jm-magnolia-distressed2

I hyperventilated, broke out in hives, had a panic attack and nearly passed out whilst distressing the paper!!  I must have had a brain storm cos I even RIPPED it, nearly had heart failure when that happened so had to make the best of a bad job - I ripped some more then threaded some ribbon through eyelets to try and salvage it.  Oh Lordy Lordy - I soooo don't do distressing rofl.jm-magnolia-distressed1

Just Magnolia - Monochrome

This week the Just Magnolia challenge is monochrome. Now there was some confusion amongst the DT (me especially) - some of us have interpreted it as it should be - shades of all one colour, others have interpreted it as one colour plus white. So we're leaving this up to you as to which way you decide to go.bev

So, here's my interpretation - guess who didn't Google the word monochrome before she made her card rofl.  I used these gorgeous Melissa Francis papers, just love the country look to them.  The punched border is done with an EK Success punch that I picked up from the Doncaster Show last week - I have a serious addiction to punches lol - takes me almost as long to choose the punch as it does the papers!!.  The flowers - I punched some little flowers and plonked some tiny roses in the centres, the leaves are punched with the ash branch punch.  The gorge ribbon is a rak from Tab, thanks sweetie xx

Just Magnolia - a sketch, Magnolia DT

We have a fab sketch done by Martine on Just Magnolia this week, really loved working with this one. Martinessketchwk28

The papers, flowers ribbon and image were in my DT kit from Magnolia, I love these colours!! Not colours I would use by choice ... until now (it's my new fave colour combo lol). Love the sentiment stamp too, so sweet.jm-magnolia-martine-sketch
